Laura Watson graduated from the University of York in January 2015 and has decided to begin her adventure into the world of self-employment.

Laura has set up this business for a number of reasons; predominantly, as a result of having struggled with her mental and physical health as well as hardships within her previous workplace. Together with the love and support of her partner and the New Enterprise Allowance programme offered by the Department of Work and Pensions, Laura established the startup company SteamOn in 2017.

SteamOn is a small business that prides itself on efficiency and its customer-centred outlook. Alongside relieving customers of their ironing woes, SteamOn plans to support and facilitate mental health awareness, with every purchase, a percentage of profits will be donated to Mind UK in addition to articles and blog posts being shared across all media platforms. Aside from the running of SteamOn, Laura’s life is pivoted around her partner, family and friends. She loves cooking and getting everyone together. More recently, property renovation and interior design are two of her great interests - two properties having been completed. If Laura is not entertaining guests, cooking or renovating her home; she loves to travel with her partner - Budapest, Croatia and Vienna are next on their list.
